OK I get this note from YouTube saying I have to classify my videos as to whether or not they're aimed at under 13s. I do that, fine.
Then out of the blue a message appears from Magenetra saying they seriously considering closing their channel over it. At the same time there's a video from an art channel I subscribe to that explains the matter. Apparently, if the authorities disagree about your classification, you can be fined many thousands of dollars, wherever you are in the world.
Vocaloid songs often feature cute or anime-style illustrations that could be deemed appealing to young children. The content, however, can be a love song or a serious topic or even a darker theme that is clearly not aimed at under 13s. A discrepancy like that could result differences of opinion on the classification of a video, making the risks serious.
I don't know how things will progress, but currently the only option is to close down! This applies not only to Magenetra, but to me, and probably to over half the channels I subscribe to if they have any sense.
You can find out more in Amy's video. They have a link to a petition and to where you can send feedback about the legislation in the description. https://youtu.be/W9SMXwp0Fy0
