And yet you still posted about a non-Vocaloid synth here and not the correct wiki.
You need to give that wiki some love, if people always post here then that one gets ignored. :-O
Yeah but the funny thing is that if I post there it won’t be responded to for 5 months at least.
You're missing ther point; if no one posts there that communitity can't grow, posting here is useless and all you've done is had someone question why you didn't post it in another more appropriate wiki. Thats why you post there, no one will question you and ait all adds to that particular communitity.
This is like posting abotu Dragonball on the One Piece wiki....
Nobody’s hardly ever active on the synthV, utau, cevio etc etc wikis tho :/ plus, imo all of those things fall under the umbrella of the “vocaloid” fandom as a whole. so it’s not that absurd that he’s posting this stuff on here rather than the synthV wiki.
I use she/they- sorry about the pronouns thing I just don’t like being referred to with he/him
Oki super sorry
@Thiccms "Vocaloid" is not a catch-all term for all vocal synths, it just refers to yamahas vocaloid synth tech, its incorrect to say "vocaloid" is a catch-all term. While all Vocaloids are vocal synths, not all vocal synths are "Vocaloid".
And also, until I raised the point with others about this topic, it was ignored; what is the dfference between posting on Synth V discussions and here, when its ignored. And out of all of us, only 1 person, Viper, who didn't even know this topic existed, answered the question and they only answered it because I linked to it on the Discord.
The entire point made about getting no response at Synth V wiki is moot because of that 1 single point. You'd have gotten just the same result regardless if I'd not responding at all. So this would have been ignored anyway. However, the main advantage of posting in the Synth V discussions is not only is the topic relevent, even if no one had answered it would have been a bit more of a spark to get that wiki started. You can't grow a wiki communitiy by absolutely no one posting there and this wiki was in the same boat 11 years ago. You think we got this big overnight? No. In fact the entire fandom hated us for the first few years and tried to put people off of using us or visiting us.
The only reason we started to even talk to each other was I, when I was bureaucrat, turned on the "comments" section on the wiki... Before that the 8 or so people that was regulars, and thats a generous number, didn't talk.
And the OP didn't even post this question on both wikis so... They not only deprieved the Synth V of a chance for a spark, they also only got the answers from the communitiy that wasn't even certain to have touched the Synth V tech nor that particular voicebank.
Sorry, this is half a rant because I've been on Fandom for so long and this is the WORST excuse not to post in another wiki.
As someone whose helped grown several wikis over the years, you guys should at least respect I know what I'm talking about when I point out the flaw in the logic here. If you use this wiki as an excuse to not post in another wiki more suitable and related, you kinda are stealing traffic from that said wiki, which in turn causes people to not want to post there which in turn causes people to post on the more popular wiki, which in turn causes yet more discouragement from posting on the lesser popular wiki. And so on. You have to break this cycle sooner or later or said wiki will continue to suffer and traffic will continue to be stolen.
You can't force people to go to the Synth V wiki, but you can give it a small boast.
But hey, once a year I repeat this same thing and every year its completely ignored, so this problem will not go away. ¬_¬
@NebulousViper Not speaking for you, but point to anyone else who has been able to answer this?
I think there is a problem while we don't get topics like this very often, its all amounting to a sad story of the looping situation I just mentioned.
Synth V doesn't have much interest and to take the little interest there is via our own wiki isnt' helping.
Thats fine if you disagree with the matter, but... This ain't fixing a problem thats there. You don't seem to accept its a problem, but it is.
Edit:
On the cousins thing; all Vocaloid are vocal synths, not all vocal synths are Vocaloid.
-Let me put it in a similar fashion this; all birds are dinosaurs, but not all dinosaurs are birds.
-All playstation video games are video games, but not all video games are made for the play station.
-All trains are modes of transport, but not all modes of trainsport are trains.
I think you get the idea.
This sort of thing feels like people want ot make up excuses...
I’m going to unfollow this post as I have no interest in watching people bicker over LITERALLY the stupidest thing ever.
@TheTubaGoddess its kinda not a stupid pointits a on going problem that is happening with this wiki in regards to others.
History; in 2009 this wiki held the information on all vocal synth tech, by 2010 the UTAU wiki seperated itself from the Vocaloid wiki even before I came along. Other wikis were made to save this wiki from hosting information.
In 2021 this wiki is mostly a Vocaloid focused wiki, but we're got more and more Vocaloids leaving for other synths, so... We're not only having other software around, we're getting more crossovers with said wikis. And there is a bit of an issue with the other wikis, as otuside of Vocaloid, the fandom has little interest in the other vocal synth tech. But this wiki is creating a slowly growing problem thats impacting over wikis. This is due to various problems that are small but if not resolved may grow in time. The Synth V wiki is new, and is actually 4 or so years from getting decent traffic, it needs regular releases and producers from its user base to keep interest and grow it. We're kinda not helping it along by stealing the odd one bit of traffic it could have. :-?
I've been arguing this for a few years now, but others aren't seeing the problem thats been created by this continuing. There isn't much traffic the Vocaloid wiki steals when questions like this are posted, but its still 1 bit less traffic the Synth V wiki isn't getting.
Edit:
I'm actually saying this in a calm manner, you guys would take this a lot differently if we were stealing hundreds of traffic, but we're not. But that doesn't mean that we're not hurting potential growth.
It would be okay in my books if we just have the rule; post in both wikis. ^_^'
IT would resolve every issue I have with us being used like this.
