Background[]

"Uwagaki" is an experimental-alternative rock song composed and illustrated by Iyowa, featuring Hatsune Miku and Hanakuma Chifuyu. It was released as part of Iyowa's participation in the #YouTubeMusicWeekend Event 8.0.

It was also the second song to premiere in the event, while their first song is actually an instrumental but with the same name of the song but written in kanji form. This reveals that these two songs that iyowa posted are connected into a larger story.

The story starts of the events in the instrumental where it was first posted, It is told through visuals with also dialogue from below. The PV follows the perspective of a person waiting at a bus stop, accompanied by a girl in a sun hat. She has recorded a selection of songs she has covered on piano for the other to listen to on earbuds. As they converse idly over the music, the girl worries about behaving strangely.

After the third song, the girl reveals that she is actually from the future, where technology has advanced to be able to 'overwrite' the past. Having traveled back in time and now inhabiting her past self's body, she explains that no matter how much she deviates from the timeline of events, nothing will ever change. As a bus rolls in to the stop, she begs the other person not to board and to continue speaking with her, implying something will happen once they do. The video ends as they get up to leave.

As for Uwagaki (Write over me), it follows the events described in the first one. the PV shows the scribbles covering the lyrics and the whole PV itself in the end represents the whole overwrite to the past while the girl still cries in the exact bus stop of what the person she was talking to. The lyrics complemented the events of the instrumental, of farewell to everything in this past.

The song abrubtly ends means this past was finally erased.

Since it's release, The song has entered the Hall of Fame, and exceeded 400,000 views.
