Background[]

"Uwagaki" is an experimental-alternative rock song composed and illustrated by Iyowa, featuring Hatsune Miku and Hanakuma Chifuyu. It was released and written as part of Iyowa's participation in the #YouTubeMusicWeekend Event 8.0.

This song is the second to premiere in the event, following the release of an instrumental track with the same name written in kanji. The presence of both songs reveals that they are connected to a larger story.

The story begins with the instrumental track, which was posted first. It is told through visuals and dialogue. The music video (PV) follows the perspective of a person waiting at a bus stop, accompanied by a girl wearing a white dress and a white sunhat. She has recorded a selection of piano cover songs for the other person to listen to through earbuds. As they converse casually about the music, the girl expresses her concern about behaving strangely.

After the third song, the girl reveals that she is from the future, where technology has advanced to the point where it can "overwrite" the past. Having traveled back in time, she now inhabits her past self’s body. She explains that no matter how much she changes the course of events, nothing will ever alter the timeline. As a bus arrives at the stop, she begs the other person not to board and to continue talking with her, implying that something significant will happen once they do. The video ends as they get up to leave.

As for Uwagaki (The song), follows the events described in the first instrumental track. The PV shows scribbles covering the lyrics, and the entire video ultimately represents the process of overwriting the past. The girl is still seen crying at the same bus stop, of the person she was talking too. The lyrics themselves complement it, expressing a sense of saying farewell to what has been lost or erased.

In the last chorus and the end of the song, the song abruptly ends, signifying that the past has finally been erased.

Since it's release, The song has entered the Hall of Fame, and exceeded 1 Million YouTube views.
