Background[]

"z__", also known as "If You Were To Be Paralyzed By Sleep", is an experimental color-bass, EDM, and Jersey Club track by Avaraya, featuring Kaai Yuki and the UTAU version of Nurse Robot_Type T. It was also Avaraya's first work using these voicebanks.

Although the song is intentionally vague and surreal, its themes focus heavily on dreams, particularly the unsettling idea of being unable to wake up just like it's translated title. Both the music video and the lyrics present a haunting, disorienting, dreamlike, and chaotic atmosphere that suggests the disturbing terror of being trapped in an endless dream, leaving much open to interpretation.

This release also marks Avaraya’s first attempt at creating their own music video. It showcases the beginnings of their 3DCG skills, which would later develop further in "The Sound About Petals" and subsequent works influenced by this early experimentation.

The song received significant attention, becoming Avaraya’s first track to reach 100,000 views on YouTube and earning a place in the Hall of Fame. It was later reached 1 Million YouTube views, making one of their most notable songs.

The song was uploaded officially on Bilibili on, February 26, 2025 and gained 1 Million views. Hence, both Bilibili and YouTube gained this milestone respectivley.
