"SIU" is a original song by MARETU featuring Hatsune Miku.
The song is open to interpretation, One widely accepted theory within the fan community suggests that the song portrays the perspective of an individual, often interpreted as a child, who is treated as unwanted and whose existence is reduced to serving others. This interpretation is largely supported by the recurring phrase "SUCK IT UP", which is shown in a blurred in mosaic throughout the video. The phrase implies that the subject is forced to endure their life circumstances without complaint or resistance.
The song's official english title, "SIU", is commonly believed among fans to be an acronym for "SUCK IT UP", reinforcing the themes. However, this is not the only thing that this title had other several interpretations.
From the original Japanese title itself, しう (Shiu), In a depeer linguistic and cultural analysis. Some listeners or even translators interpret it as a reference to the Chinese term "四有" (sì yǒu), a Buddhist term referring to the four stages of existence: birth, life, death, and limbo. Another interpretation suggests it could derive from "死有", meaning "the instant of death," also rooted in Buddhist philosophy. Alternatively, "祠宇"; a Shinto term meaning "shrine".
A detail pointed out that occurs during the second "SUCK IT UP" sequence (around the 1:48 mark), where one of the blurred, mosaic-style text overlays visually differs from the spoken lyrics. While the audio continues to say "SUCK IT UP," some viewers have seen that the appearance of the text in that specific instance resembles the phrase "SHUT ME UP" instead.

- Some listeners and fans have speculated that SIU may be thematically or symbolically connected to MARETU’s earlier song "Uminaoshi", This theory gained attention following the release of the しう (SIU) album trailer, and is further supported by the fact that "Uminaoshi" is included as one of the tracks on the album. Three main points are commonly cited to note:
- Both SIU and Uminaoshi prominently feature level crossing signal sirens, a recurring sound effect often associated with Uminaoshi.
- Another is from the lyric "うまれなおしの歓迎会 (umarenaoshi no kangeikai)", which roughly translates to "a welcome party to wish you better luck next life", includes the phrase "うまれなおし (umarenaoshi)".
