Background[]
"Ido e Itaru Mori e Itaru Ido" is a prologue maxi to Sound Horizon's 7th story album, "Märchen". Set in Medieval Europe, the single is about the lives of Marz von Ludowing, Elisabeth von Wettin, and Theresa von Ludowing. Other characters featured in the songs include a doll named Elise, whose singing is provided with Hatsune Miku's vocals, and Märchen von Freidhof played by Revo himself. The single is notable for its usage of the Project if... vocal Junger März_PROTOTYPE β and Hatsune Miku as confirmed by the official website on June 7, 2010 and later on by the official Project If... Twitter account.[1][2] The regular and limited editions of the single hit #2 on the Oricon weekly singles chart for the June 14-20 week and sold 47,000 copies, a record high for Sound Horizon at the time.[3][4][5]
The single's limited edition comes with a DVD that contains the music video for the first track as well as a separate video featuring a still image that plays all tracks, including the bonus tracks from both versions of the album.[6] The bonus fourth track of the album is different depending on the version of the single. On the regular edition, the bonus track is a piano piece meanwhile on the limited edition, it is a violin piece. On this page, the fourth track is the instrumental piece featured on the regular edition while the fifth track is the instrumental piece featured on the limited edition.

Trivia[]
- The bonus tracks in both versions of the single did not have names originally and were called [Secret Track] instead. The names would later be announced however. This is a common practice within Sound Horizon.[8]
- The music video for "Hikari to Yami no Dowa" ends with the whisper "殺してやる…" (Koroshite yaru), a line absent from the original song.[9]
