Background[]

"Obsolete Meat" is a J-pop/happy hardcore song composed by 32ki, featuring Hatsune Miku V4X Original and Kasane Teto AI. The song contains themes surrounding social pressure and overeating. The title of this song is accurately called "Obsomeat" as a portmanteau or a pun of the two words from the official translation name.

This song seems to be a response to the popularity of "Mesmerizer", and how 32ki doesn't want to make "new Mesmerizers" forever. The lyrics seem to be talking about trends, and the line "following in the footsteps of your own success" makes it feel even more like the song is in fact about "Mesmerizer". This is a common thing for many creators too. One thing goes viral, and then it defines their existence on the internet. A lesson that could be learned from this song is to let people get popular, but not call everything they make a new version of their most-popular creation.

This song has surpassed 6 Million views on YouTube and 800,000 views on bilibili, and has entered the Hall of Fame.

The song's BPM is 158, as confirmed in the lyrics file for the song on the producer's Dropbox link for this song.
Akita Neru's appearance in the video may be in reference to memes about her being the one pulling the strings in the video for 32ki's popular song "Mesmerizer". However, that's just 32ki's way to see if people only cared for Mesmerizer or actually understand what the song was actually about.
On the thumbnail and from the beginning of the song's music video; the pixelated text on the bottom says "Itadakimasu (いただきます)", which is a Japanese phrase that translates "to humbly receive". Often said before eating a meal, the phrase is used as a way of showing gratitude and respect for everyone and everything that made the meal in front of you possible.
Some people have realized that Mesmerizer and Obsolete Meat have a motif of having details that are the opposite of the other, like:
- In Mesmerizer, Miku is on the left and Teto is on the right side, while in Obsolete Meat, Teto is on the left and Miku is on the right side instead.
- Mesmerizer's confirmed BPM is 185, while Obsolete Meat's confirmed BPM is 158.
- In Mesmerizer, at 1:29, Teto is the one being muffled, while in Obsolete Meat, at 0:39, Miku is the one muffled instead.
- Mesmerizer's album cover has Teto on the upper right and Miku on the bottom left of the cover, while Obsolete Meat's album cover has Teto on the lower right and Miku on the upper left of the cover instead.
