Let us prosper.[1]

The crying, crying, crying child has melted away.
The angry, angry, angry child has burnt away.
The running, running, running child; where are they?
They hid amidst the mountain of corpses and disappeared.

Sad, sad balloons; we’ve put them on.
A bird, bird pecked at some and ate them.
Rattle, clatter. To the rhythm of cracking bones,
The worms infesting the mountain of corpses are dancing.

Wearing merry shoes, squeak, squeak, we run.
The poor are chanting the voices of svaahaa.
Where is the bad child? They’re one of us.
We’ve chosen that strange child.

Our bodies are broken. The collapse is serious. The brightness declines. The chroma decomposes.[2]
The whole body crumbles. The demolition restarts. The remission is withdrawn. Human-made disasters return.
We fall down thrillingly. We become manic refreshingly. The felony causes damage. We need to claim compensation.[3]
Let us prosper; svaahaa![1] Somebody, help us!

Aah…

The blue sky turns yellow. The firmament is unpredictable. Three cross marks. The inside of my brain is entangled.
See you once again. Lose our lives once. The reason why we were appointed to be sacrificed is unknown.
The maximum. A failing grade. Now certificating our right to have the minimum standard of living.
The upper classes survive. The lower classes are crushed. We get chastised every night. Our hearses are leaving tomorrow morning.

We’re in chaos; we’re entangled. Our emotions are at war. The washing machine is working.
Beep-beep. We feel impatient. We’re under a big switch. Our thoughts are spreading out.

We repeat parting. We have extreme pain. Dah-dit-dit-dah.[4] Cross mark, traffic.
Let us prosper; svaahaa! Somebody, respond to us!

Somewhere the voices of salvation won’t reach,
Our voices of supplication won’t resonate. Svaahaa!
Our voices echo in the lonely mountain;
They echo in the sad mountain where we’re buried.

The foreigners’ appearances. They’re apt to attack us. We’re afraid of invasion. We want stable harmony.
Diplomacy collapses. We go back to the old tradition. Our ancestors’ success has turned into dust.

Falling leaves glide in the sky. We execute the plan as agents. We decide to purify them. Their blunder will pass quickly.
The feeling of gloom. The feeling of grave sin. The feeling of going manic. The feeling of omnipotence. The pleasant feeling of craving death.

Grant us protection; grant us happiness…[5]

You’re so pathetic, huh? So are we the whole time, huh?
You’re really wounded, and now you’re dead.
Extremely frightened, you can’t help laughing…

You’re so pathetic, huh? So are we the whole time, huh?
But, this is really funny—
You, who protected us from everything, are gone.
We made a decision, and we bullied and eliminated you!
But we won’t care, we won’t care, care, care, care…

Somebody, help us. Somebody, help us. Let us prosper; svaahaa…

We’re always—
So pathetic, huh? So are we the whole time, huh? We’re really…

So, it cannot be helped, huh…

Translation Notes[]

  • Note: To see the other notes, Please go to the Official English lyrics tabber.
  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 Either 弥栄 (iyasaka) or 薩婆訶 (sowaka) is a ritual prayer you utter when you wish for your further prosperity. They’re almost equivalent to “amen.”
  2. Several paragraphs in the lyrics are written only in kanji, which reminds me of sutras.
  3. As is often the case with Japanese profound songs, I had to complement the translation with some additional words which are not used in the original lyrics. For instance, in this line, the object of 請求 (seikyuu, claim) is not mentioned.
  4. −··− is International Morse Code for X.
  5. From norito, Shinto ritual prayer. (source)
