"Monitoring" is an original song produced by DECO*27, featuring Hatsune Miku. This song was written for DECO*27's 9th album, TRANSFORM.

The song is seemingly about stalking, where Miku with the eyepatch is the stalker, and the person who looks into the peephole is the victim. But rather, the song is literally about stalking; instead, it was using it as a theme, aside from the sexual themes.

A popular interpretation that has risen since this song's release is that Miku is not really a stalker at all, but how the viewer on the peephole sees her. Hence, there are some scenes of Miku being laid back, normal, and not really stalkerish from the start until she is actually normal at the end of the music video.

The music video distinguishes between Stalker and Normal Miku. The Stalker Miku had these psychedelic colors and effects around her, which would create some tension in the viewer through the peephole, while the Normal Miku did not.

The song has exceeded 100 million YouTube views, 20 million Bilibili views, and entered the Hall of Legend. This was also the fourth Vocaloid song to exceed 10 million views on Bilibili overall, as most of the songs that reached this milestone are Chinese songs.

In addition, this song has been ranked on 1st on four consecutive weeks on the Billboard JAPAN "Niconico VOCALOID SONGS TOP20",^[1] it was also has been discussed both in Japan and overseas, and fan-made videos of various characters peering through the peep hole have been posted one after another, so in terms of popularity, this song became another DECO*27's widespread song ever worldwide ever since "The Vampire".

A little over nine months after the song's original upload, DECO*27 would upload a remixed version of the song on September 5, 2025, subtitled "Best Friend Remix". The remix has exceeded 1 million views on YouTube in only 6 hours and 40 minutes, making it the fastest VOCALOID song and also a remix song to do so.^[2] It also quickly got 2,000,000 views on Bilibili and entered the Hall of Fame. Addtionally, On September 13, 2025, the remix gained 10 million views in under two weeks.

This also supports the interpretation that Miku is not really a stalker, but more of a genuine friend. However, the ending of the music video leaves another room for multiple interpretations. Two interpretations according to some listeners believe the remix is a reversed take on this song, while others think it simply shifts the perspective back to the person behind the peephole.

On December 31, 2025; between Christmas Day and the lead-up to New Year 2026, Monitoring surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. This made it DECO*27's second most notable VOCALOID song to reach that milestone, following "Rabbit Hole".
