This subject has a mistransliteration title in Romaji. While known as "Madoushi Futari Tabi ~Osakabe to Bannin~" in the Western fandom, "Madoushi Futari Tabi ~Chouheki to Bannin~" is the more suitable translation. This tradition comes from a mistranslation by an anonymous contributor on Evillious Chronicles Wiki. More subjects categorized here. |
Background[]
The Journey of Two Mages ~Great Wall and Watchman~ is a folk song composed by Mothy and sung by GUMI. It is part of the Evillious Chronicles. Set in the year EC 548, it follows Elluka and Gumillia's journey eastward in search of the Twin Blades of Levianta. The story is told from the perspective of Gumillia.
Elluka Clockworker and Gumillia are on their way to Jakoku to search for the Vessel of Envy: the Twin Blades of Levianta, but are stopped by a guard when they reach a great wall he tells them that only people of his country can pass the gates. The mages then try to dye their hair black like his, but he tells them their skin isn't the right color. They then try to color their skin with mud but he tells them they don't have the right eye color. Elluka eventually snaps and blows the man away using a wind spell. When they open the gates that lead to "The Great Country" they find nothing and Gumillia questions what the man was even supposed to guard.
This song has entered Hall of Fame.

Trivia[]
- While unnamed in the song, The Great Country that the two mages venture across after passing through the Great Wall is the country of Mukoku, which Jakoku lies east of across the ocean. Both nations are part of the Akuna region, which is east of the Evillious region where majority of the Evillious Chronicles takes place. Both regions are part of the Bolganio continent, with Evillious on the western half, and Akuna on the eastern.
