Background[]
"88☆彡" is an original song by marasy and Shota Horie (kemu), commissioned for the game Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku. The Virtual Singer version of the song features Hatsune Miku and KAITO as the vocalists. Its MV embraces the setting of the Wonderland SEKAI (from Project SEKAI), with Miku and KAITO dressed in their respective attires as in the game.
According to marasy, the title of the song can be read as "Hachijuuhachi", which is the usual way to read the number 88 in Japanese.[1]
There are several interpretations for the number 88 in this song: 88 may be a reference to number of constellations in the sky; 88 is also the number of keys on a typical piano (36 black and 52 white). The song itself is also exactly 88 measures long, as commented upon by marasy.[2]
It was also was the 2nd place of the Niconico Video Awards 2022.
This song has received over 1 million views on YouTube and has entered the Hall of Fame on Niconico.
