Though this wasn't just about the art, the post hits the nail on the head with some of the problems displayed by fans.
Other things include the irony of a lot of the protesters. People saying they'd rather Pocaloid her, others saying they'd never buy her... Some of which were people who were going to Pocaloid her anyway and others weren't going to buy her anyway. It was just talk and thats the problem.
In regards to the art, I said it myself before the art was show, that they'd have likely supported it even if it was really bad, because everyone sided instantly with Syo and/or Misha. People rushed to take a side without getting all the facts together and any attempt Bil made to settle things were off set by fans nitpicking over his words.
Most of the fault seemed to just have fallen onto Anders who failed to really be a good middle man this time... Everyone pointed at PowerFX as the "bad guys" before they had their facts together. Anders highlighted that once they agreed with PowerFX to develop the vocal for powerFX, PowerFX took over things. So when they did some art, they thought nothing of it. Anders and Bil both countered each other on seeing Misha's concept, with Bil saying he'd never seen it and Anders saying otherwise. The whole thing was a product of miscommunication. :-/
I got miffed because myself because I've been supporting Engloids since 2010, and in light of all this... Yohioloid was confirmed to have failed badly. What made me angry is how the fans react yet any other time don't care about English Vocaloid. As I said, how many rushed to say "meh" on every Engloid release or criticize English Vocaloids over other vocaloid languages. How many times have people said "I just bought my baby Galaco" or had jumped on Luka V4x purely because its Luka? And what about "Save Galaco!" getting 8,000+ signatures on a unneeded petition versus the stale reaction at the retirement of Leon, Lola and Miriam? Or how Avanna getting no.1 being put off as nothing special when it was a big deal, and her second year at no.1 getting no notice until I pointed it out here?
And the icing on the cake was the biggest irony that was invented to "hurt" PowerFX.... "Lets boycott PowerFX and/or Ruby!" yeah, because Syo gets a bonus depending on how well she sells and likely will be hired for any additional vocals getting money from THEM. So they end up hurting Syo too (also I think my English tutors would have been proud to know I know how to use the word "irony" correctly...).
I also laughed when someone said they would rather buy the dowloand version over the boxed version... Experience has taught me its cheaper for a company to do download over physical release, so in due respects, PowerFX would get more % of money from a direct download purchase over a physical release. Yeah, you really are hurting PowerFX... XD
Even then, we do not know the artist' design brief for the fan-rejected image nor details about what goes on from the developers side of things. We have only "hearsay" and this was the problem.... Its easy to say "you're lying" when you don't know the truth. And its not always easy to pick out lies unless there is a contradiction. For example, Bil may have indeed seen the Misha art, but either forgot or didn't realize its significance. As CEO he likely is thrown a lot of stuff every day of the week, PowerFX aren't just a Vocaloid making company afterall. There is a ton of speculation one can make about this but its all theory without the proof.
