While I think it would've been a bit safer if he had kept the notebook either outside of school or until some free period where teachers aren't constantly watch-dogging, as well as understand how some teachers would take that as possible death threats if they didn't know the whole situation (as well as that overwhelming fear some have that any student could snap and there'd be another mass shooting on their hands)... the suspension, court stuff, and deeming him "insane" was
way over the top.
The situation could have been handled much better than what it was, instead of mislabling a student over a dark manga/anime themed joke that they're perfectly aware of and have no true intentions of acting out. Take the notebook away, discuss with the student after class why you thought it was inappropriate or if it's against school policy... but geez, don't just ruin the guy's permanent record without giving him a chance to explain. It certainly isn't being pro-active more than it is witch-hunting. Not cool... (ಠ-ಠ)
Yeah, I can agree. I don't really think it was a good idea to take the Notebook in the first place (based on the name on the notebook). I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying that maybe to be safe, he shoudn't have had it out for people to see,I guess. Please tell me that their was at least ONE teacher that had a child that read/watched Death Note and understands! T^T
