History[]
On July 12, 2018, it was found that Haruno Sora was in development through AH-Software's Amazon inventory. It was confirmed that she would be developed for VOCALOID5, which was not yet announced through YAMAHA at the time, and that she was expected to release on July 26, 2018. It was also revealed that she was voiced by Kikuko Inoue, a Japanese voice actress and singer.
Sora was confirmed to have two voicebanks: Natural and Cool. These voicebanks were made available as a dual pack and individual packs. She was also revealed to have a VOICEROID2 voicebank.

A laid-back vocal designed best for ballads, though capable of other genres of music. Haruno Sora also has a supporting VOICEROID2 vocal. She also has exVoice samples available. A free updated function was added related to this package called "Release Attack". This new function adds a Attack and release effect to VOCALOID5 that is intended to enhance use of Sora. This feature was intended to be released with her initial release, however, there was no developer's environment at the time of VOCALOID5s to allow 3rd party features to be added to VOCALOID5. It is designed for her voicebanks and allows for sounds to have odd pronunciation effects. The new function is divided between "Pitch", "Dynamics", "Tone" and "Ornamentation". With this function sounds such as "V" (known as "V Pronounce") and "R" (known as "R Release") are much easier to sound out by Japanese VOCALOID voicebanks with more precision, meaning that Sora can mimic other languages using just Japanese. There are presets for things such as allowing her to scream. Other Japanese Vocaloids from VOCALOID3 onward can use this function also, but they are limited to the standard options within this feature and not all the options will be available for their use. However similar to Sachiko's plug-in, you can set things up with Sora and simply switch voicebanks afterwards, though as they were intended for Sora the results are inferior overall.[2][3] Note; as with similar "Attack release" functions released for VOCALOID, this new function is not a substitute to a voicebank of that language. They still do not have all the necessary diaphones or triphone that voicebanks of that language have and do not have certain natural traits of a native speaker. However, it greatly helps with the issue that all Japanese voicebanks have with having a limited phonetic sample database that limits how close they can achieve other languages. Producers are recommended to download this function if they enjoy making using Japanese voicebanks for English as this increases how close they can achieve languages such as English. | |
