- Description: The eighth installment in Crypton Future Media's annual “Magical Mirai” franchise, this third-dimensional live concert and exhibition tour was held at INTEX Osaka in November 2020 and the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Tokyo in December 2020. Its common theme is “MATSURI (festival)”, and the cities that the tour visited each included a different seasonal nature of the theme - Osaka having a summer style and Tokyo having a winter style. The first Japanese female VOCALOID, MEIKO, also commemorated her fifteenth anniversary during the tour. Both of the main visuals for Osaka and Tokyo were illustrated by fujichoco, and the tour's official theme song is “Aisarenakute mo Kimi ga Iru”, composed and produced by Pinocchio-P.

Official Event Description[]
“MATSURI” (festival) is at extension of daily life, but still a special event where you can feel extraordinary. It’s also where people gather and wish for various Mirai (futures). There are many people excited and waiting for it.
Wishing “Magical Mirai” to be special place for fans, creators, and companies to gather and experience the extraordinary together. Have fun together, and create connections into the future.
2020’s theme will be “MATSURI”.[1]
Song Contest[]
Prior to the tour, Crypton Future Media held a song contest for fans and producers, where they could create a song featuring Hatsune Miku for the opportunity to win one of the coveted prizes in the annual Magical Mirai Song Contest. The winner of the top prize, the Grand Prix, would have their song performed live at the event and printed on a SONOCA card, earn two free tickets to the show of their choice, and receive a ¥100,000 gift card for SONICWIRE. Two runners-up would have their song printed on a SONOCA card, earn two free tickets to the show of their choice, and receive a ¥30,000 gift card for SONICWIRE, alongside two others getting honorable mentions.
The Grand Prize-winning song for 2020 was “Marui Unabara”, composed and produced by RT-G.o.B.S.

On November 9, 2020, it was announced that the final evening concert in Osaka, on November 29, would be streamed live online around the world at 19:00 (JST). The concert aired on PIA, KKTIX and bilibili, at the cost of ¥2,500, and was then available to catch up with in the form of "archive" viewing from November 30, 2020 at 18:00 (JST) until December 5, 2020 at 18:00 (JST).[2]

Hatsune Miku “Magical Mirai 2020” OFFICIAL ALBUM[]
Released on August 31, 2020 (Hatsune Miku's official birthday), this ten-track compilation album includes the official theme song of the tour as well as that of MEIKO's fifteenth anniversary, the song which won the Magical Mirai 2020 Song Contest Grand Prix, and seven others, including a new song composed by Kinoshita that features all four of Crypton Future Media's female VOCALOIDs (Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Megurine Luka and MEIKO). A limited edition of the album, featuring a DVD of two official music videos, is also available.

Blu-ray & DVD[]
A Blu-ray and DVD of the concert was released on April 21, 2021 in both standard and limited editions. The main disc includes a full recording of the final day of the Tokyo concert with bonus features being footage of songs performed on other days in the same city. The limited edition included a bonus disc featuring footage of songs performed only in Osaka - such as the performance of Aisarenakute mo Kimi ga Iru using the "Summer Festival" module exclusive to that city, as well as "Focus on Singers" angles for Taiyoukei Disco, Kimipedia, Kanzensei Complex, Mikaboshi, Kimi to Boku no Resonance and the Tokyo performance of Aisarenakute mo Kimi ga Iru using the city-exclusive "Winter Festival" module, and behind-the-scenes footage of the concerts and exhibitions in both cities. Also included are a book, three-sided special slipcase packagings illustrated by fujichoco, a B3 poster, a keyring and cardboard cut-outs.

Trivia[]
- The Osaka concert and exhibition were meant to be held between August 7–9, before being pushed back to November 27–29 due to the issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan.
- While both the Osaka and Tokyo concerts have the same common theme, their seasonal nature is presented differently from the other - Osaka has a "natsu matsuri" (summer festival) feel and Tokyo has a “Winter Festival” feel. This is because of the months and periods that each leg of the concert occurs.
- Despite Osaka being moved from August to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it still retains the "natsu matsuri" theme.
- This is the fourth consecutive concert in the Magical Mirai franchise to include an anniversary celebration of a VOCALOID created by Crypton Future Media; 2020's case being MEIKO and her fifteenth anniversary.
- Due to the issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert and exhibition in both cities had no tickets or accommodation plans available for overseas costumers.
- The capacity in each venue was also reduced to 50%, as well as the running time of the concert to 90 minutes, to tie in with the current Japanese government guidelines and restrictions.
- The amount of songs performed were less than previous years, so that people could still follow social distancing and other safety precautions while enjoying the event.

- Pinocchio-P, the producer of "Aisarenakute mo Kimi ga Iru" (the tour's official theme song), said about making the song: "For the past few years, I have been impressed by the thorough entertainment of Magical Mirai and the sense of unity from its customers. I made a song from the perspective of "Hatsune Miku" for the first time in order to give shape to what the basis of that excitement is. This is a song about the relationship between Hatsune Miku and people who like the culture around it. Thank you."[3]
- fujichoco, the illustrator of the main visuals for Osaka and Tokyo, and character designer of Lize Helesta, said about creating the visuals: "The key visual of "Magical Mirai" was a job I've always admired as an illustrator and a lover of VOCALOID, so I was really happy to hear from you (Crypton Future Media)! With the theme of "MATSURI" (festival), we aimed for costumes that convey a lively atmosphere."[4]
- The Osaka concert marked the premiere of and the first time that R3 "real-time control" modules for both Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len were used, during Kimipedia.
- It also marked the live premieres of said songs, Taiyoukei Disco, YY, Shabon, Gimme×Gimme, Mikaboshi, Marui Unbara, Amazing Dolce, Kimi to Boku no Resonance, Kanzensei Complex, Sekai, Inochi ni Kirawarete Iru, and Aisarenakute mo Kimi ga Iru.
- It also had all the Magical Mirai theme songs except for 2017's DUNE (砂の惑星).
- The Tokyo concert marked the live premiere of Pokapoka no Hoshi, a SNOW MIKU theme song that had never previously been played live.
- The third day of the concert in said city also marked the first live performance of Albino (as a remix) since 2013.
- This is the third concert in the Magical Mirai series in a row to have its theme song played as the last of the encore songs, as well as premiere a new module based on the official visual of the event.
- It is also the first to include two slightly different official visuals for each city it takes place in.
- During the performance of Unknown Mother Goose on day two of the Osaka concert, Miku decided to play a newly-made live guitar which was on sale during the exhibition, replacing the original choreographed routine which was first debuted at Magical Mirai 2018.
- Because of the issues surrounding, and the potential fact that it may spread symptoms of COVID-19, the audiences in each venue were asked to limit cheering and use clapping and waving glow sticks and wear a face mask at all times while in the venue.
- This is the first Magical Mirai concert not to feature MEG.ME on keyboard since her debut at the 2015 edition, due to her giving birth to her first child in the past year.
- MEIKO's anniversary was actually incorrectly depicted as her fifteenth, since 2020 was her sixteenth, due to having been first released in November 2004.
- However, since there were a variety of events for her fifteenth Anniversary over the past year, which began with Hatsune Miku Symphony 2019, it is likely that this event is a culmination of the celebrations.
