初音ミク Project mirai 2 is a video game created by SEGA for the Nintendo 3DS and the sequel to Hatsune Miku and Future Stars Project mirai.
History[]
Project Mirai 2 was released in Japan on November 28, 2013.[1] Both a regular edition, for ¥6,229 yen ($63), and a limited edition, for ¥7,665 ($77), are being sold. It is the sequel to the first Project mirai game. The game's theme ("Ageage Again") is composed by Mitchie M.
An updated version of the game was released in 2015, first in Japan as Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Deluxe, then in North America and Europe under the title of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX.[2] This is the third game of the Project DIVA franchise to be released in the West, as well as the first with the mirai title. The theme for this version ("Hajimemashite Chikyuujin-san") is composed by Pinocchio-P.
Features[]
Project mirai 2 features more costumes and songs than its predecessor. All songs featured in the first Project Mirai are also included in this game.
GUMI returns in Project mirai 2, as was revealed on her 4th anniversary.[3] After heavy demand she was also given her own playable character.
Gameplay[]
While Project mirai only had button controls, Project mirai 2 adds use of touch screen controls where players tap the bottom screen.[4] An upped sense of speed and additional gimmicks have also been added. In addition to hitting the markers on the touch screen with the right timing that goes with the song, the more difficult settings will increase it up to three different marker colors.[5] The thicker lines seen on the trail will require players to hold down the touch screen part, and when it is rainbow-colored players will be required to spin it around in circles.
The old style of play used in the first Project mirai is still be available, for those that prefer that, with a few new twists added. In addition to the A, B, X, and Y buttons, players also need to use the directional D pad for certain keys. Similar to the Touch Mode gameplay part, players be required to hold down the buttons for the ticker lines. The rainbow colored parts can be done by rotating the Circle Pad in circles. There are also 2 Line parts that require both uses of the A, B, X, and Y buttons along with directional buttons, at the same time. The game also features minigames.[6]
Project mirai DX adds a new Super Hard difficulty that was given to six songs, which can be unlocked when obtaining an S Rank or higher on that song in Hard difficulty, although it would have to be unlocked for both modes in order to be playable in both modes. The songs that have the Super Hard Difficulty include:
Project mirai DX also features a new minigame called Mikuversi, which is based on Reversi.

Trivia[]
- Through the GameInformer magazine and GameStop website, Project Mirai DX was to be released in America on May 26, 2015.[8] However, just a week before this date, it was announced that it would be delayed to September 8 for North America and September 11th for Europe.[9]
- In Project Mirai DX, all video based PVs have been removed, and replaced with real-time animated PVs using the in-game modules. The only two exceptions are those of "Happy Synthesizer" and "YUMEYUME," both of which can be viewed in the Options menu.
- On the receipt for those who bought the game digitally, "Megpoid" is misspelled as "Megapoid."[10]
- When checking Miku and friends' allowance, sometimes, events that reference in-game songs can happen.
- Project Mirai DX was rated E10+ for the following reason:
- Mild Lyrics: Some songs contain mildly suggestive lyrics (e.g. “Tonight, we throw off my uptight self and get naked” and “Tear away this tight dress and get me naked.” from on the rocks by OSTER project ). However, the songs are mostly sung in Japanese with the subtitles are in Romaji writing.
- Also, some of the songs having lyrics referencing alcohol (e.g. Clover♣Club by Yuuyu-P ), which is not pointed by ESRB.
- Mild Violence: In the PV of Aku no Meshitsukai and Aku no Musume, Rin was executed in a guillotine. The blade is heard falling as Rin's ribbon floats away, though the act is not depicted.
