This article is about the VOCALOID4 software known as a voicebank. If you are looking for the VOCALOID character then click here.

History[]

Silhouettes for the AH-Software VOCALOIDs were revealed on a poster on November 6, 2014; however, it was unconfirmed what they were for at the time.[1] On November 20, it was confirmed in the livestream for VOCALOID4 that they all, with the exception of Tohoku Zunko, would receive VOCALOID4 voicebanks.

On May 28, 2015, AH-Software showed a new design for Kiyoteru to promote the AniNite concert in Vienna, Austria. Its relation to his VOCALOID4 update was unknown at the time.[2]

On August 17, it was noted that Kiyoteru and Kaai Yuki would receive demos some time after the AniNite concert ended. It was also mentioned that Kiyoteru's VOCALOID4 voicebank was recorded from scratch to improve his upper and lower ranges.[3]

On September 30, Kiyoteru was confirmed to receive a Natural and Rock vocal. He had also gained a new design which corresponded with the Rock voicebank, while his Natural voicebank used the design that was shown off in May to promote the AniNite concert. His Natural and Rock vocals could be purchased separately or together, and a Starter Pack was confirmed to be available. His release date was announced to be October 29, 2015.[4]

On October 15, trial versions of his voicebanks became available.[5]

Product Information
Versions
Trial/Demo Vers?: Yes  Starter Available?: Yes  App vers.?: Yes
Package details as noted:

The updated version of the VOCALOID2 package.

Cross-Synthesis as noted:

XSY possible between "Natural" and "Rock"

  • In total the package offers the equivalent of 2 additional voicebanks achievable via XSY. The total tone variation offered by the package comes to a theoretical 4 voicebanks in total.

  • From Ver.4.3.0 of the VOCALOID engine onwards, a XSY group "AHS" was added to VOCALOID. All vocals within the "AHS" group can XSY with each other. This vocal release is part of this group. If a user owns one or more vocal releases within the "AHS" group, XSY between them will open up.[6][7]
    • The group has 8 characters within it that can XSY: Yuzuki Yukari, Macne Nana, Macne Petit, Tohoku Zunko, Hiyama Kiyoteru, Nekomura Iroha, SF-A2 miki and Kizuna Akari.
    • The "AHS" group is currently the second largest XSY group within VOCALOID, having a total of 14 voicebanks that can XSY with each other. If old versions that have since been re-released are removed, there are currently 12 unique voicebanks. These are: "Yuzuki Yukari Jun", "Yuzuki Yukari Onn", "Yuzuki Yukari Lin", "SF-A2 miki", "Tohoku Zunko", "Macne Nana", "Macne Petit", "Kizuna Akari", "Hiyama Kiyoteru Natural", "Hiyama Kiyoteru Rock", "Nekomura Iroha Natural" and "Nekomura Iroha Soft".
    • In total if a user was to own every VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID4 AH-Software vocal within the "AHS" group, this offers the equivalent of 182 additional voicebanks achievable via XSY. The total tone variation offered by the combined packages comes to a theoretical 196 voicebanks in total.
  • Note that also "GWL" does not become viable for use with any V3 vocals used as the primarily vocal. This should be considered when using any vocal for XSY within the "AHS" group from V3.
  • Also note that the updated vocals that brought a VOCALOID from VOCALOID3 into VOCALOID4 provided few differences, aside from adding GWL. Therefore these updates can provide little difference when used for XSY.
    • As he is regarded as the only true "masculine" vocal in the AHS group, he can be used to adjust other vocals to take on more masculine traits.

    Hiyama Kiyoteru V4 Natural

    Cross-Synthesis as noted:

The main purpose of XSY for Kiyoteru is to either remove or add expression and emphysis to his results, for "Natural" its role is removal of expression.

    The path to remove expression is;

    • "Rock" ⇄ XSY ("Rock" x "Natural") ⇄ "Natural"

Doing this will allow Kiyoteru to have more calmer or subtler moments in a song with XSY being the main "ease" into the vocal.

    Product Information
    Optimum
      Optimum Range: C2 ~ G4  Optimum Tempo: 70 ~ 190 BPM
      Total Tempo (min-max): 120 BPM  No. of Keys: W ~ 19, B ~ 13, Total ~ 32
    Package details as noted:

ROCK is a powerful vocal suited for faster genres.

    Vocal traits as noted:
    • Has the needed power that "Natural" does not have for genres such as Rock.
    • It can handle songs that require a great deal of high masculine tones.
    • It is also capable of handling sudden changes of notes from low to high much easier and maintain extended notes better.
    • Has a larger tempo range than the Natural voicebank and therefore can handle more genres of music.
    • Is suited for faster tempo songs, rather than lower tempo songs.
    • Has a larger vocal range than "Natural."

    Cross-Synthesis as noted:

The main purpose of XSY for Kiyoteru is to either remove or add expression and emphysis to his results, for "Rock" its role is the addition of expression.

    The path to add expression is;

    • "Natural" ⇄ XSY ("Natural" x "Rock") ⇄ "Rock"

Doing this will allow Kiyoteru to have more expression in a song where needed with XSY being the main "ease" into the vocal.
