History[]
2025[]
On January 27, 2025, IA and fellow ARIA ON THE PLANETES vocalist ONE celebrated their respective thirteenth and tenth anniversaries on a livestream broadcast on their shared YouTube channel.[3] 26 minutes into the stream, IA sang a song titled "アルカナイデア (Arcana Idea)" that did not sound like it was sung by her CeVIO AI/VoiSona Song Voice library; it was revealed (and confirmed by parent company 1st PLACE Co., Ltd. on a separate tweet) that a VOCALOID6 voicebank for IA was in development, and that an alpha build of the voicebank was used to perform the song played during the livestream.[4][5] A feedback campaign was also launched, inviting users to apply for testing the alpha IA V6 voicebank and voicing their opinions and comments on not only IA's voice and singing, but also on "more specific voice qualities, glide and pronunciation, what kind of music you would like to use, and so on."
On November 22, 1st PLACE announced the "IA History Collection" series of merchandise, celebrating the history of IA as a virtual singer across three vocal synthesizer engine platforms. Among the highlights of the goods series was Rebreath / IA VOICE ARCHIVES No.1, an audiocassette to be released on November 29 during the event "THE VOC@LOiD M@STER 61"; side A would feature these four songs:
- "日本橋高架下R計画 (Nihonbashi Koukashita R Keikaku)" (2012), featuring IA (VOCALOID3)
- "LIFE LOVE PEACE" (2018), featuring IA ENGLISH C (CeVIO Creative Studio)
- "あの夏に咲いた花 (Ano Natsu ni Saita Hana)" (2021), featuring IA AI SONG (CeVIO AI)
- "INTERGALACTIA" (2023), featuring IA AI SONG ENGLISH (CeVIO AI)
while side B would feature a version of "Arcana Idea" featuring a beta build of IA's in-development VOCALOID6 voicebank.[6]
On December 5, IA's official Twitter announced that her V6's "First Reveal" (first public reveal of her new voicebank beyond the beta stage) would be made on December 15, with no further details given.[7] An official website was launched, which initially repeated the same brief information shared on Twitter, asking visitors to wait until December 15.[8]
On December 15, the revamped official website revealed the final name chosen for IA's V6 product: "VOCALOID™6 IA : [R] -ARIA ON THE PLANETES-" (with the "IA : [R]" part sometimes stylized as either "IA :[R]" or "IA:[R]", and the letter "R" standing for "Rebirth", "Resonance", and "Rebreath").[note 1] No new full artwork was revealed though; a black-&-white lineart animation, heavily cropped to just her eyes and front hair bangs, was teased on an embedded video where she only sang "Aaaahhh, aaaahhh, AAAHHHH" (with the last Aaaahhh being joined by a chorus).[1] The boxart was temporarily represented on the website by a black DVD-sized box, with the product logo overlaid on its bottom-left corner in white font color. A release date of January 27, 2026 (the 14th anniversary of IA's original VOCALOID3 release) was also revealed, and both digital download (DL) and physical (package) editions would be offered.[2] Three different physical packages were specified: the "IA :[R] -ARIA ON THE PLANETES-" package (containing just the VOCALOID6 voicebank), the "IA :[R] DUO PACKAGE" (the V6 bundled with the original V3 voicebank), and the "IA :[R] -ARIA ON THE PLANETES- Starter Pack" (the V6 bundled with the VOCALOID6 Editor). "First-Press Limited Editions" (初回限定特典版) of each of these three packages would be the first editions announced to be offered for sale, with pre-orders opening on December 19, 2025 at 20:00 Japanese Standard Time (JST);[9] each one would be bundled with a "SPECIAL GOODS SET" containing the audiocassette Rebreath / IA VOICE ARCHIVES No.00, an acrylic keychain, and two special holographic stickers, and during the pre-order period from December 19 (2025) to January 15 (2026) a limited-print clear postcard would be also thrown in as a pre-order bonus.[10][11] Official Instagram[12] and Twitter[13] accounts were also launched for the new upcoming voicebank.
The same website also showed three different upcoming milestone dates at the bottom, all of them only captioned as "???":[9][10][11]
- December 19: text below the date 12/19 was fully obscured by a piece of paper; a trio of bookmarks strung together (one short but wide, white in color, only saying "12/19"; one long and wide, colored blue, with nothing else; and one medium in length but thin in width, also white, with only "COMING SOON") were shown.
- December 22: text below "12/22" initially read "IA:[R]" but then got obscured by another piece of paper; one crumpled piece of ruled paper (light brown in color), paired with an equally-crumpled piece of bag paper (dark brown in color), were shown.
- December 25: text below "12/25" seemed to start with a "D" but was otherwise fully obscured by yet another piece of paper; a lavender-colored square box was shown, tied together by a pair of perpendicular white ribbons printed with "12/25 ??? COMING SOON".
Two black dots followed by "Next Reveal" (in boldtype) and "coming soon..." closed the list of upcoming milestones.
On December 19, IA :[R]'s character design was teased online as a black silhouette, just as pre-orders for her First-Press Limited Edition physical packages were being opened on 1st PLACE's BOOTH shop.[14][15][16] On December 22, the full version of her demo song "Arcana Idea" was published, this time using her finished voicebank (as opposed to the alpha build originally used earlier in January), and added to her website.[17][18][19] On December 25, a second demo song, "シリーテラー (Silly Terror)", was published.[20][21][22]
2026[]
On January 5, 2026, IA :[R]'s physical boxart was partially revealed, now changed to a white background color (instead of the original placeholder's black) and incorporating IA's previously-teased black silhouette while rearranging the logo and text elements (and changing them from white to black font color, save for the ":[R]" which was changed to a hot pink color); a pixelated graphic pattern in black, silver, and hot pink was also added behind IA's silhouette. For the First-Press Limited Edition standalone physical, the outer box cover was also shown: against a light pink background, a black pixelated pattern with silver and white elements was prominently featured, and overlaid onto the upper left portion of the black pattern in white serifed font was the motto "The voice breathes again."[23] On January 6, the outer cover for the Starter Pack was revealed: it followed the same design as the standalone physical except for the background being white (rather than light pink), the main pattern being light pink (rather than black), and the motto being typeset in black (rather than white); "STARTER PACK" was overlaid onto the lower right portion of the pink pattern in the same black serifed font as the motto.[24] On January 7, the DUO PACKAGE's outer cover was revealed, being mostly the same as the standalone (retaining the light pink background) except for swapping the main pattern's silver and black elements and adopting the same font color as the Starter Pack while adding "DUO PACKAGE" to the lower right.[25] On January 8, it was shown that the foreground white elements in the three limited-edition physicals' outer covers were actually see-through cutouts behind which the basic boxart could be partially seen, with very little of IA's new boxart illustration (until then only seen as a silhouette) being now revealed.[26][27]
