While this version has limited capabilities, but at the price of ¥1,800 for the iPad and ¥350 for the iPhone has made this the second cheapest version of the Vocaloid software currently on sale. Currently, this version of the software has only been released in Japanese and there is no known details on if a English version will be released or if any other Vocaloids will be released on this format for that matter. Those wishing to purchase this software must also have a Japanese chip on their iPad or iPhone to use this software.

iVOCALOID was released initially as a portable version of the VOCALOID2 software released for the iPad.

About

This mimics the VOCALOID3 engine (originally VOCALOID2). It provides a limited number of voices and can only use a single track of data, offering just 17 bars of measure. It can use VOCALOID NET. Its range is limited to C3~F4.

History

YAMAHA announced a version of the VOCALOID™ software for the iPhone and iPad, which was exhibited at the Y2 Autumn 2010 Digital Content Expo in Japan. It uses a version of the VOCALOID2 engine.[1][2]

  • December 2010, VY1 was released for the software. While this version has limited capabilities, the price of ¥1,800 for the iPad has made this the second cheapest version of the VOCALOID™ software on sale. Currently, this version of the software has only been released in Japanese. Those wishing to purchase this software must also have a Japanese chip on their iPad or iPhone to use it.
  • October 2011, VY2 was also made available on iPhone and iPod touch in the iTunes store.
  • November 2012, Aoki Lapis was added. This makes her the first VOCALOID3 voicebank to later be released on a version of VOCALOID2.
  • April 2014, Merli was added. This version later claimed no.1 for all music app sales in the Japanese iTunes store.[3]

Upgrades

In August 2013 the software was upgraded to ver 3.0, becoming part of the VOCALOID3 range.

In November 2013, with the release of VOCALOID first, the app was upgraded to Version 3.1.

In September 2020, YAMAHA announced the discontinuation of iVOCALOID (along with Vocalodama) stating it will be removed from the App Store after October 30.[5]
