Template:Infobox softwareiVOCALOID was released initially as the portable version of the VOCALOID2 software released for the iPad.

History

Yamaha announced a version of the VOCALOID™ software for the iPhone and iPad, which was exhibited at the Y2 Autumn 2010 Digital Content Expo in Japan. It uses a version of the VOCALOID2 engine.[1][2]

In December 2010, VY1 was released in an adapted version of the VOCALOID™ software, iVOCALOID for the iPad.

While this version has limited capabilities, the price of ¥1,800 for the iPad has made this the second cheapest version of the VOCALOID™ software currently on sale. Currently, this version of the software has only been released in Japanese. Those wishing to purchase this software must also have a Japanese chip on their iPad or iPhone to use it.

VY2 is also available on iPhone and iPod touch in the iTunes store.[3]

Aoki Lapis has been added to this software. This makes her the first VOCALOID3 voicebank to later be released on a version of VOCALOID2.[4]

It was upgraded to ver 3.0, becoming part of the VOCALOID3 range.

In November 2013, with the release of VOCALOID first, the app was upgraded to Version 3.1.

In 2014, Merli was added.[5] This version later claimed no.1 for all music app sales in the Japanese iTunes store.[6]

In August 2014, VOCALOID NET was opened, this allowed iVOCALOID to exchange data with VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID Editor for Cubase. It also allowed access to standard song writing for the first time on this version.[7]
