History

Yamaha announced a version of the VOCALOID software for the iPhone and iPad, which was exhibited at the Y2 Autumn 2010 Digital Content Expo in Japan. It uses a version of the VOCALOID2 engine.[1][2]

In December 2010, VY1 was released in an adapted version of the VOCALOID software, iVOCALOID for the iPad.

While this version has limited capabilities, the price of ¥1,800 for the iPad has made this the second cheapest version of the VOCALOID software currently on sale. Currently, this version of the software has only been released in Japanese and there is no known details if an English version will be produced, or if any VOCALOIDs apart from the VY series and Aoki will be released in this format. Those wishing to purchase this software must also have a Japanese chip on their iPad or iPhone to use it.

VY2 is also available on iPhone and iPod touch in the iTunes store.[3]

Aoki Lapis has been added to this software.[4]

In November 2013, with the release of VOCALOID first, the app was upgraded to Version 3.1.
