History[]

On July 18, 2024, the same day GekiyakuV and KazehikiV were released for the VOCALOID6 engine, Yamaha Corporation announced that Ci-chan, And Uge, Kanade Kanon, and Kasukabe Tsumugi –all of them based on Virtual YouTubers who received prototype releases on the VOCALOID β-STUDIO VX-β engine– would be receiving voicebanks for the VOCALOID6 engine as well. Kanon's voicebank, announced to be named just Kanade (花奏) for VOCALOID6, was announced to also be releasing as a voicebank for the VX-β engine's final release[1] (although later on VX-β would be reworked to simply accept V6 voicebanks rather than separate new VX-β ones). The release date was initially set to around the winter of 2024.[2] The information was also confirmed by her voice provider, Kanade Kanon.[3]

On November 8, Yamaha's VOCALOID Twitter account tweeted that an announcement regarding Kanade was to be made on November 11, which is Kanade Kanon's official birthday.[4] On the 11th, a demo song by producer shikisai, using VOCALOID6 Kanade, went public.[5] This was followed up by Yamaha shortly after with a tweet revealing not only Kanade's VOCALOID SHOP download icon but also the release date of November 27; the standalone voicebank would be bundled with VOCALOID6 Editor Lite, and a Starter Pack was also announced to be offered bundling the voicebank with the full VOCALOID6 Editor and Cubase AI.[6]

Kanade released in Japan on November 27, as intended. On the other hand, Yamaha was still preparing her for overseas distribution, with international release date yet to be determined.[7] She was finally released overseas on December 5[8] after the VOCALOID SHOP switched to a new international payment processor, FastSpring, as since July the previous payment processor, Digital River, had been facing problems causing it to delay sales payments to vendors utilizing its services,[9] including Yamaha.
