History[]
On September 14, 2023, four partial illustrations were teased on the official VOCALOID β-STUDIO Twitter account with the announcement of four new singers.[1] While unconfirmed by name at the time, the illustrations closely matched previously created characters, primarily those who have appeared as Virtual YouTubers including: And Uge, Kanade Kanon, Kasukabe Tsumugi (a character released originally for the VOICEVOX text-to-speech synthesizer, who was created and voiced by Kasukabe Tsukushi), and Ci the Jiangshi (a former member of the Japanese Virtual YouTuber duo unit BOOGEY VOXX).[2][3] The first vocalist to be revealed was Kanade Kanon β, a Japanese VOCALOID based on the voice of the Virtual bassist YouTuber, Kanade Kanon, announced officially on September 20, 2023. She made her official debut on September 21 along with her first demonstration. The following vocalists would be announced sequentially as well as an update for VX-β.[4][5]
Kanade Kanon β was announced to be released for beta testing applicants beginning on September 26, 2023 to coincide with the VX-β Ver1.1 update. Additional demonstrations were added to her official product page on the official VOCALOID β-STUDIO website the same day.[6][7]
Usable Period[]
VX-β and included voicebanks, such as Kanade Kanon β, had a limited usable period. After March 31, 2024, the activity end date of this project, it will not start as a plug-in and cannot be used. It was encouraged that users save important work that was being worked on by exporting them onto their respective DAW software until then.
