The song was first uploaded to YouTube on May 28, 2012 earning over 2,000 views; and was later uploaded to Nico Nico Douga which has gained over 900 views. The song is a part of EmpathP's album 「Leaving Donna」.
The song refers to Japanese lore of the romantic thread that ties two lovers together.
In EmpathP's upcoming album Fables of Farewell, "Knot or Not?" will be a vocal and an instrumental of the song will be included along with it.
