! 我的中文不太好。。。 I don't know Chinese that well to have a full conversation with anyone and can only read/write a little. However, do not allow this to intimidate you into not asking me questions or talking to me. I don't mind if you write to me in Chinese, in fact, I encourage everyone to write in the language they are most comfortable with, but I will take a lot longer to respond back. !

Just a random hi to you. Edit

Hey Nebulous, so I heard of you are still learning Chinese.... but very little. What learning software you use to learn Chinese?

Yeah... I lost the motivation to edit again. Plus... ever since my mom confiscated my laptop, I can only use library's computer but the sound is off for a reason. It's the best to listen to a song 1st and then do background edits easier and more accurate.

Anyways, I use that strategy to do the same thing in Vocaloid Lyric Wikia. Allows me to translate the lyrics with less stress although my Chinese is still in low-intermediate level. Gonna improve my Chinese 1st!

And.... good day.

Re: Meiko MegurineEdit

Hi, I just thought I'd let you know that I'm limited on what I can do when creating/editing a song page from a smartphone. I don't know how to change page formats and whatnot.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll read more about conditions and terms.

Very sorryEdit

Its a bit of a trouble, to explain the two newbies usage of "spirit" and I tried to rewrite things to include it back in. I explained on twitter what the use of "spirit" in this instance means, but its difficult for me to explain and difficult for westerners to understand. I can't even find a way to link to a Wikipedia article and looking the word up there is only one in Japanese for Wikipedia we could possibly use to reference what the word refers to.

I hate situations like this and don't fully know whats best for the two vocaloids or the wiki in how to fully explain1 single words concept. As I try to say also on twitter, I think this makes out the word has more importance then it appears, but its only a minor concept. Its just one with not an apparently obvious meaning and its only because the word changes the meaning of the sentence I'm even worried about us keeping it in. Every so often there is one word of Japanese like that and it can be a real problem sorting out and at times impossible without loosing the entire meaning.

Mind if I also talk a bit about this in general here, not specifically to the two newbies but just on some random things that have become a note of mine for a while?

I guess the closet would be the old days people used to believe in the west that the air carried the essence of life and that when we stopped breathing, we lost our breath of life. Its before they knew the heart and lungs and how they worked, and so fourth and even is referenced somewhere in the bible, forget where. While this is all interesting, there are words like this I don't know how to translate or explain from Japanese to English and why I consider myself a rubbish translator at times. But thats basically like what I guess the thing is saying to put it how the best I can, the spirit referring to in that sentence is essentially making the sentence say they lack a lifeforce they aren't real and are people.

I guess this is why the Gynoid company also didn't say Flower was "female" and went about it in a round about way instead of just saying "flower is a girl". They only that she had female parts as well, as they seem reluctant to give full genders on their Vocaloids, save their Chinese one. I'm starting to not really look forward to the idea of tackling more of their Vocaloids because its going to start being confusing for some of our readers I think. I remember VO forums having problems just with understanding VY1's vocal was female but as it has no mascot the vocaloid is actually genderless, the same applies to VY2 and Diva as well as Songman. In terms of things, this is a nightmare as gender does play a role in biology and effects a vocalist and in turn a Vocaloid, but the issue of gender itself is getting complex. ITs easy to explain Len is considered a female voicebank technically due to a provider, but people still look at it being listed as male and consider it male.

Its easier in the Japanese fandom as while things are male and female, the Vocaloids themselves are all "its" for being inanimate objects since distinction is put on what is alive and what is not. Again, not unknown concept to me, the Bit-beasts of Beyblade were the same though had no genders at all. Though the issue is at times even applies to voice acting. A character like Luffy from one piece isn't real, so the provider just gives him the "soul" to speak and tell a story in animation. He is still "male" because he represents the male gender, but there is distinction between a cartoon character and a person. This is why I creator the character voice page, the VO forum members complained about that page and the use of us saying something was a character voice, but they failed to acknowledge the way the Japanese would see it for this reason. I generally left anime fandoms because a lot of this sort of thing went over the head of my fellow westeners and I'm not good with religious explaination and not 100% with all concepts of faith for the Asian cultures. I understand some things and all, but understanding them took time and reexplaining is a lot of issues. So I'm always aware of our approach to explain such things back to our readers.

As a anime fan I did believe that westerners should try and understand these things and not shy away and remain ignorant, but over time I'm becoming increasingly ware that we can't always avoid explaining these things. And that has me worried about the future whenever something like this appears. How deep into the Japanese culture, religious concepts, etc, do you think we should go, baring what I've said myself on my thoughts? Its not the adding this information that I feel is an issue, its just how deep we should go.

I find other cultures fascinating, despite having a weakness in history subjects and are always just worried about the best way to tackle these things. One-Winged Hawk (talk) 11:47, March 9, 2019 (UTC)

Slight update to external linksEdit

I added '|vlw =' so you don't need to use {VLW} unless it is required.
Pixiv is also there since I kept seeing it while editing.
