History[edit | edit source]
On May 24, 2018, YAMAHA Corporation announced and released Mirai Komachi in collaboration with Bandai Namco Studio, Inc (BNS). According to YAMAHA's product page for her, she was "initially developed to showcase game development technology to the VOCALOID Voicebank". She did not receive any demos at this time.
According to her own website, she was actively being used for in-house technology demonstrations and outside conferences prior to her release.
After her release, BNS confirmed in an email that Mirai Komachi's profile and an English version of the website would be shown to the public later. The company also confirmed that "Mirai Komachi" was actually a nickname for the character rather than her actual name which would later be revealed.
A year after her release, BNS revealed concepts and prototypes of her character design.
