Shu Yonezawa (米澤柊, Yonezawa Shū) is a Japanese artist and animator, and is the illustrator of asa.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Yonezawa is described by artist management office SNOW Contemporary as "interested in the physicality of characters in today's digital animation and the physicality of the mind and emotions of living creatures in real space. Also creates the atmosphere of the space in which these animations live."[1]

Several of the artistic works they created since 2020 are curated or exhibited by various locations across Japan (mostly in Tokyo), the most notable ones being Obake no B, the Movie (2022) at NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC] in Tokyo, Nameless Limb (2022) at the Tokyo Arts & Space Hongo [OPEN SITE7], Happy Birthday and Newborn Friends (2023) at the BLOCK HOUSE in Tokyo, Happy Birth (2023) at the PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO, and Skin of the Sea, Bone of the Absence (2024) and Swimming eyes (2025) at SNOW Contemporary's own headquarters in Tokyo. The artist won the Campus Genius Bronze Award at the 27th Campus Genius Contest (Art Division) in 2021 for the ambient animation Obake no,[2] and was awarded a scholarship by the LVMH MÉTIERS D’ART for its 9th Résidence Artistique in February 2025.[3]

Yonezawa has worked on commissions for musical works by singers like Hakushi Hasegawa (artworks for "Otogasuru" and "Sukuinote"; animation for "KYŌFUNOHOSHI") and producers like KAIRUI (jacket covers for The name of the sea and Hoshi no Watashi featuring Hatsune Miku), as well as for games like Children's Garden (character design, illustrations, and animations).[4]
