Lily VOCALOID2 VOCALOID3 | Songs Albums Notable Originals

This article is about the VOCALOID3 software known as a voicebank. If you are looking for the VOCALOID character then click here.

History[]

In December 2011, Noboru mentioned re-recording Lily and that a new vocal was being constructed which did not use any parts from VOCALOID2 Lily.[1]

V3 Lily was announced in early 2012. One of the earliest notes about this was that the new V3 Lily vocal would have a slightly larger vocal range.[2] A level of high pitch was also removed for the V3 Lily version, as the original VOCALOID2 Lily had two high pitches recorded for it.[3]

V3 Lily was released on April 19, 2012. VOCALOID2 Lily was retired from sale and is instead sold with V3 Lily as a updated version "V3 Lily - Native" alongside a new "Lily V3" voicebank.

Mac Update[]

In July 2013, Internet Co., Ltd announced a Mac update of this product for the VOCALOID NEO engine.[4]

GENERAL USAGE[]

Product Information
Versions
Trial/Demo Vers?: Yes  Starter Available?: Yes
Package details as noted:

V3 Lily is the updated vocal based on the original VOCALOID2 release. Her voice provider is the Japanese female singer Yuri Masuda. There are two voicebanks are present in the box. The first is a update on the original VOCALOID2 voicebank (for details see VOCALOID2 information), the second is a new voicebank for VOCALOID3 made from new recordings.

The package also contains demo song data and illustrations.

Vocal traits as noted:
  • The new package is designed specifically to remove past annoyances with the original VOCALOID2 Lily.
  • At a lowest optimum range of #D2 kokone, V3 Lily, Hatsune Miku V3 vocals Dark and solid as well as Yuzuki Yukari all jointly hold the title of "lowest Japanese female" optimum range between them. They are beaten as overall lowest female by Clara at #C2.

Cross-Synthesis as noted:

When imported into VOCALOID4, the cross-synthesis (XSY) function can be used on both the "V3 Lily - native" and "V3 Lily" voicebanks.

  • In total the package offers the equivalent of 2 additional voicebanks achievable via XSY. The total tone variation offered by the package comes to a theoretical 4 voicebanks in total.
  • Note that these vocals were not designed to be used for XSY originally as it was not part of the VOCALOID3 engine functions. Results may be rougher than VOCALOID4 XSY vocals for that reason.

  • From Ver.4.3.0 of the Vocaloid engine, a XSY group "Internet" was added to Vocaloid. All vocals within the "Internet" group can XSY with each other. This vocal release is part of this group. If a User owns one or more vocals within the "Internet" group, XSY between them will open up as a result of owning this release.
    • The group has 8 characters within it that can XSY; Gumi, Camui Gackpo, Ryuto, Cul, Kokone, Chika, Lily and Otomachi Una.
    • The "Internet" group is currently the largest XSY group at 29 voicebanks. If old versions that have since been re-released are removed, there are currently 21 unique voicebanks. These are; "Gackpoid Native", "Gackpoid Whisper", "Gackpoid Power", "Lily Native", "Lily", "Cul", "Kokone", "Gachapoid", "Chika", "Otomachi Una Sugar", "Otomachi Una Spicy", "Megpoid Native", "Megpoid Sweet", "Megpoid Adult", "Megpoid Power", "Megpoid Whisper", "Megpoid Nativefat", "Megpoid Mellowadult", "Megpoid Powerfat", "Megpoid Naturalsweet" and "Megpoid Softwhisper".
    • In total if user was to own every VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID4 XSY capable INTERNET co., LTD vocal, this offers the equivalent of 812 additional voicebanks achievable via XSY. The total tone variation offered by the combined packages comes to a theoretical 841 voicebanks in total.[5]
  • Note that Users of the updated XSY list have to understand that as confirmed by Internet co., Ltd themselves, depending on the combination of the two vocals a level of extra unwanted noise may be generated.
  • Another note worthy detail on V4 and later vocals compared to V3 vocals within this group is that Internet Co., Ltd. increased the number of triphones from Chika onwards. Thus, many newer vocals do not match sound-for-sound with the older pre-Chika released vocals.
  • Post VOCALOID4 releases were also developed with XSY in mind, so are better for XSY then the older VOCALOID3 releases.
  • In addition to not being built with XSY in mind, VOCALOID3 packages with only 1 vocal in their contents that were released may be even more problematic for XSY. Internet co often made multi-pack releases have a quality that made switching mid-song less noticeable between voicebanks, making them slightly better for XSY then single vocal releases.
  • Note that also "GWL" does not become viable for use with any V3 vocals used as the primarily vocal. This should be considered when using any vocal for XSY within the "Internet" group from V3.

    V3 Lily Native

    Cross-Synthesis as noted:

It was not made with XSY in mind and may cause "V3 Lily" to gain pitching issues.

    Product Information
    Optimum
      Optimum Range: D2 ~ G4  Optimum Tempo: 90 ~ 180 BPM
      Total Tempo (min-max): 90 BPM  No. of Keys: W ~ 18, B ~ 12, Total ~ 30
    Package details as noted:

V3 Lily is the second vocal and like V3 Lily - Native, this vocal corrects another major flaw with VOCALOID2 Lily this time in regards to how the overall vocal sounds. It is a new recording is not a change of tone like other updated V3 vocals and was designed to sound 'more human'.[6] The goal of the new vocal was to create a more Vivid version of Lily.[7]

    Vocal traits as noted:
    • Lily's optimum vocal range is larger than her VOCALOID2 vocal.
    • The change of pitch was caused simply by the removal of a set of high pitched samples from the VOCALOID2 vocal during the recording process, which had caused the VOCALOID2 vocal to sound too high.
    Phonetic notes as noted:
    • Due to the new Vivid results, her vowels come out much too loud (The o in a long 'Wo' note, for example) and need to be edited further.

    Cross-Synthesis as noted:

V3 Lily is intended to be the main vocal of the package but it was not made with XSY in mind at the time.
