- Kagamine Rin & Len, DEX, OLIVER, Nekomura Iroha, Flower, [Teto] Fukase, Gumi, Maika
Background[]
"Vanishing World" is an apocalyptic dark fantasy series by Monstrosity, taking place in an overarching universe called Kenopsia. The story focuses on alien creatures known as "Vani" coming to destroy Earth with the help of a select few humans. The Vani's goal is to eliminate all cognitive life, as they believe that thinking and living are inherently suffering. In Vanishing World, they are opposed by both the humans of Earth and the Omni, alien creatures similar to Vani that want to protect life.
Primarily, the main protagonistic character in each song is Madeline Karazell, a human and member of an organization known as Zone-B.
NOTE: Due to the lore-heavy and story centered nature of the Kenopsia series as a whole, there is far too much information to put on this wiki. For more background information, character information, story summaries, etc, go to the Kenopsia series' own wiki.
Tethers[]
Tethers, in Kenopsia as a whole, are individuals who are born with part of a Vani's soul. While they can be any creature with a soul and mind, in the Vanishing World series all tethers are human. Due to housing half a Vani's soul, Vani need a living tether to enter portal-like "links", in order to traverse to far off planets and carry out what they believe to be mercy. If a tether dies, their respective Vani can no longer remain on the planet, and will be sent back through the link, back to the outer reaches of space.
Because of this, it is in a Vani's best interest to keep their tether alive as they attack a planet. And, in most cases, do so while using their tether to aid their attack.
Human Characters[]
Madeline Karazell[]
Madeline Karazell is the main character in the Vanishing World series. She is not a tether, instead appearing throughout the songs to attack the Vani.
She is based on and voiced by Teto, making her the only human character in Vanishing World so far based on a non-vocaloid voicebank.
Kaylee Tagetes[]
Kaylee Tagetes is the tether of the plant Vani Xelzerin. She was kidnapped at a young age from her family, and during the events of Xelzerin's attack performs experiments combining plants and animals into creatures to attack.
She is based on and voiced by Kagamine Rin
Mavra Kamenev[]
Mavra Kamenev is the tether of the cold Vani Morzogo. During the events of Morzogo's attack, he was completely controlled in a daze-like state, carrying out mass attacks on large cities at Morzogo's will.
He is based on KAITO, but due to changes during song production, is voiced by Dex
Benjamin Feuer[]
Benjamin Feuer, also known as Patch, is the tether of the fire Vani Insinera. When he was much younger, his parents died in a fire started by an organized mob group, yet he was rescued by Insinera. During the events of Insinera's attack, he assassinates a number of organized crime bosses with a magic-based thread.
He is based on OLIVER. However, he is mute, and thus Oliver does not voice him.
Katrina Giyatiene[]
Katrina Giyatiene is the tether of the electric Vani Deneko. She has notable cat-like features, despite still being mostly human. During the events of Deneko's attack, she works with him to build an army of object-headed zombies, and one giant mech.
She is based on and voiced by Nekomura Iroha
Elliot Kingsley[]
Elliot Kingsley is the tether of the spirit Vani Alatori. During the events of Alatori's attack, they are physically controlled by him, performing in a show to lead people to follow into Alatori's hands. Unlike Mavra, they are fully aware of their situation, and unable to fight back.
They are based on and voiced by Flower
Charlotte Kingsley[]
Charlotte Kingsley is the younger sister of Elliot Kingsley, and the tether of the metal Vani Zahalkro. However, due to Zahalkro's status as a traitor to the Vani, she is not manipulated or controlled by her Vani like her sibling, and both she and Zahalkro are actually members of Zone-B.
Despite being related to Elliot, the first song she appears in is MacGuffin in the Limelight.
She is based on Otomachi Una
Alex Creighton[]
Alex Creighton is a human, with the odd ability to turn to and from a "monster" form. He has no idea how or why he can do this, but he is hunted after by governments due to his ability. This is the main plot point in MacGuffin in the Limelight.
Similarly to Charlotte, he is a tether who is not used by their Vani. However, rather than the Vani he is tethered to being a traitor, he is tethered to a Vani who was engulfed by the corpse lake Vauluktreal.
He is based on and voiced by Fukase
Megan Luvsik[]
Megan Luvsik is the tether of the disease Vani Vauluktreal. She is quite unknown as of now, but appears in both Cognition Factory and Arbitrary Sermon.
She is based on and voiced by Gumi
Ágata Tufão[]
Ágata Tufão is the tether of the water Vani Zatakva. During the events of Zatakva's attack, her parents were kidnapped by the Vani, and she was forced into killing notable individuals to get them back.
However, at the end of Sleeping with the Fishes, she learns her parents were dead all along, and kills Zatakva in her rage. She is the first tether in the series to do so.
She is based on and voiced by MAIKA
Vani[]
Vani are an alien species, hailing from what they call the "Vaniwo". Once a normal species, long ago a split-second tragedy known as the Brandshock turned them into to the genocidal minded beasts they are today.
Vani are incredibly strong, wielding psionic-based magic, and with no reasonable weakness. They do not need to sleep or eat, cannot die of old age or even age, and can only be damaged by striking a specific green, blue, violet and red spot on their body, and only with a metal forged from their own claws and teeth. Thankfully, the opposing Omni species has these Vani-forged weapons, so that planets have a fighting chance. Vani are partially soulless, having their souls split in half during the Brandshock. The secondary halves of their souls can be reincarnated into other life forms, allowing them to traverse that respective planet.
Prior to the Brandshock, Vani (then known as Kraizen), did need to eat, did age, lacked weak spots, and weren't nigh-invincible, even if they were stronger and longer lived than any human.
Each Vani has one of 39 "Sembla", or elements controlled via mind based magic. Because of this, each Vani-centered song, known as an attack, is elementally themed. A complete list of Kenopsia's semblas can be found here.
Vani Characters[]
Xelzerin[]
Xelzerin is the plant Vani of the Earth Vani, and the antagonist of Perennial Crisis.
Morzogo[]
Morzogo is the cold Vani of the Earth Vani, and the antagonist of ULTERIOR SPECTACLE. Monstrosity has stated that Ulterior Spectacle is soon to be revised, similarly to how Perennial Crisis replaced the original pilot.
Insinera[]
Insinera is the fire Vani of the Earth Vani, and the antagonist of Anguish of the Patchwork Guardian. She lacks skin entirely, due to a fight with Zatakva that occured prior to the Brandshock. Despite this, due to the resilience of Vani even then, this is not a danger to her. However, she does wear a sack-like suit during the events of Anguish of the Patchwork Guardian.
Deneko[]
Deneko is the electric Vani of the Earth Vani, and the antagonist of Cognition Factory. He is a small Vani, but is shown to be adept with machinery and robotics, using this in his attack.
Alatori[]
Alatori is the spirit Vani of the Earth Vani, and the antagonist of Arbitrary Sermon. He appears to lack a weak point, yet this is due to the "Alatori" in the video being nothing more than a puppet, or projection.
Vaulukreal[]
Vaulukreal is the disease Vani of the Earth Vani. Interestingly, while the song most associated with her is Hungry, this song is neither from her point of view, or listed as her attack. Rather, it is from the point of view of the 17 former members of the Earth Vani, who were engulfed in the lake of melted flesh that is known as Vauluktreal. The Youtube title also lists it as "Megan-Piece 1", Megan Luvsik being the tether of Vauluktreal.
Zatakva[]
Zatakva is the water Vani of the Earth Vani. She is injured, both missing one of her five tails, and unable to walk, due to a fight with Insinera prior to the Brandshock.
Baltzival[]
Baltzival is the rock Vani of the Earth Vani. He has not yet appeared in any songs, but will so in the future.
Ohazia[]
Ohazia is the wind Vani of the Earth Vani. She has not yet appeared in any songs, but will so in the future.
