Vani are alien beasts who want to eradicate all life. They see life as a parasite or disease, and think they are doing the universe a service by getting rid of it. They have destroyed life on a multitude of other planets, Earth being one of their current targets with fifteen Vani assigned to destroy it (which is considered to be not many). Vani generally lack human emotions and have vastly different morals from humans. They also don't use human pronouns, though the Vani assigned to Earth have temporarily taken up pronouns to make things easier for their human allies.

Vani sexless and have unknown origins, though are near impossible to kill. They have brightly colored weak spots that match their eyes, having stripes of green, blue, purple, and red (always in that order). Other than their matching eyes, Vani all look incredibly different from another, most of them being large and dragonic. Generally, Vani are darkly colored (or sometimes in pastels), and do not have bright colors other than their eyes and weak spots.

The Vani's internal anatomy is all nearly the same, being comprised of three layers; the skin, muscle, and core. The core acts both as their brain and the source of their powers, being colored to match their elemental ability (the fire Vani has a red core, the plant Vani has a green core, etc). All Vani have "elemental" powers, though the element doesn't have to be a traditional element (fire and glass are both considered elements). Above the core is a thick layer of "muscle", a translucent gel-like substance that acts as the Vani's muscles, blood, bones, and ligaments. While it is hard to the touch, it can flow like liquid when the Vani move. The outer layer is the skin, which always has a fault in it known as the weak spot.

Background

"Vanishing World" is an apocalyptic dark fantasy series by Monstrosity, taking place in an overarching universe called Kenopsia.[1] The story focuses on aliens, vanishing beasts or "Vani", coming to destroy Earth with the help of a select few humans. The Vani's goal is to "cleanse the cosmos of the disease the call the mind,"[2] meaning that they plan to wipe out all life in the universe. They are opposed by both the humans of Earth and the Omni, alien creatures similar to Vani that want to protect all life.

Vanishing Beasts

Xelzerin

Xelzerin (ZEHL-zuh-rihn), who calls himself Carnation, is the plant Vani and the antagonist of Perennial Crisis. He is one of the largest Vani assigned to Earth, though can shrink himself down to the size of a flower, and is very long and plant-like in appearance. His weak spot is on both of his massive horns. Xelzerin’s appearance is largely inspired by snakes, oxes, dogs, dragonflies, as well as various The Legend of Zelda plant bosses.

Morzogo

Morzogo (MOR-zuh-go) is the ice Vani and the antagonist of ULTERIOR SPECTACLE. He is very skeletal in appearance, and is one of the few Vani who wear clothes, usually wearing a cloak and a top hat made from the skin of another Vani. His weak spot is on his “rib cage”. Morzogo’s appearance is largely inspired by skeletons, vampires, gargoyles, and owls, while his clothing is inspired by gothic and dapper styles.

Insinera (ihn-SIHN-neh-ruh) is the fire Vani and the antagonist of Anguish of the Patchwork Guardian. Her appearance in Vanishing World is not her original appearance; she was skinned by another Vani, Zatakva. Because of this, she often wears a sack to hide herself. Her weak spot is the "heart" in the center of her chest. Insinera’s appearance is largely inspired by the nine tailed fox and salamanders in myths. Her sack is largely inspired by scarecrows.
