Yuzuki Yukari VOCALOID3 VOICEROID+ VOCALOID4 | CeVIO AI VoiSona others | Songs Albums Notable Originals

Yuzuki Yukari (結月ゆかり) is a Japanese VOCALOID developed by Vocalomakets and distributed by AH-Software Co. Ltd.. She was initially released in December 2011 for the VOCALOID3 engine. She is also available as a VOICEROID+. In March 2015, she was updated to the VOCALOID4 engine and was given two additional voicebanks.[1][2] Her voice is provided by the Japanese voice actress Chihiro Ishiguro (石黒千尋; Ishiguro Chihiro).

In July 2020, a Song Voice was confirmed to be in the works for CeVIO's new engine.[3][4] This vocal would turn out to be known as Yuzuki Yukari Rei and was released for CeVIO AI on January 29, 2021.

Concept

The concept for Yukari is "People who are related to the VOCALOID connect the sounds/moon to one another," (VOCALOIDに縁のある人達が音(月)を結ぶ). The English title is "She unites you all with her voice". She is loosely inspired by the legend of the Moon rabbit.

Her age, weight, and height were supplied in "ボカロPlus vol.4".[5] According to Vocalomakets member, Kagome-P, she is a cup size A or B.[6] The team kept Yukari the focus for the first 7 years, only touching upon their next vocal on Yukari's 5th anniversary. They focused on growing the character and vocal in a variety of different ways. As such, Yukari had a lot of focus from the team for a number of years and this help diversify her voice greatly. She was developed as an adult or mature sounding vocal.[7]

She, along with Kizuna Akari have an astronomical theme along with the idea of connecting people.

Etymology

Her family name, "Yuzuki", is derived from the words connect and moon. Her given name, "Yukari", is from connection or relation. It can also mean "violet" in relation to her color scheme.

History

Marketing

Yuzuki Yukari was aimed at producers rather than the general VOCALOID fandom. She was also made to be capable of being bought with many different other software bundles, including both of her VOICEROID and VOCALOID versions, as well as the software suite Music Maker MX.[8]

Voicebanks

The following covers the VOCALOID software, for future releases see CeVIO releases.

Yuzuki Yukari - Jun
Yukari's vocal was released in co-development to her VOICEROID voicebank and was meant to portray a young female vocal with much softness and expression. Yukari's vocal was unique at the time of its release and had several supportive additions including the VOICEROID release. It was a natural vocal that leaned towards genres of music such as Jazz which require a vocal capable of slower tempos.
Other
The vocal was planned to be released for Unity with VOCALOID, which runs on the lite version of VOCALOID2, but never was released. How far in production the voicebank was is unknown.
Yuzuki Yukari - Onn
The Onn vocal was an example of voice acting and was intended to sound even more expressive then the "Jun" vocal itself. It is designed for slower and more expressive genres of music such as smooth jazz.
Yuzuki Yukari - Lin
Lin was designed to be a more powerful vocal for pop and rock music and was very different to the "Jun" vocal for this reason. It is an example of voice acting.

Yuzuki Yukari - Talk
The VOICEROID release of Yukari was made alongside the normal VOCALOID release and was made to match the tone of "Jun". Producers can use both singing and speech vocals in the same production and the listener can tell they are the same vocalist. The talk version was later updated to include tones that more closely matched "Onn" and "Lin".

Reaction

Yukari has been one of the more successful VOCALOIDs first introduced in the V3 era. In December 2014, "There's Supposed to Be a Cheat Code for Happiness" became her first original song to achieve 1 million views on Nico Video. This number was reached nearly 3 years after her release, which meant that Yukari was slower to gain popularity compared to IA, who is considered the most successful new VOCALOID3 character and vocal.

Impact

Her success lead to two new additional vocals for Yuzuki Yukari V4 as well as an update for her V3 vocal, as well as the creation of another character.

Misc

In 2015, a survey was made based on the popularity of VOCALOIDs on the website Nico Video. In 2014, Yukari was the 8th most popular VOCALOID.[9]

Due to her vocals being featured in a number of additional software packages, Yukari's voicebanks became the most extensive compared to other VOCALOIDs who possess only one voicebank and gave her the most potential overall. Some of these packages can be bought with Yukari upon purchase, although users who manage to master her vocal may consider these packages as part of their future planning.
