ZOLA PROJECT VOCALOID3 VOCALOID6 | A.I.VOICE | Songs Albums Notable Originals

This article is about the VOCALOID6 software known as voicebanks, dubbed KYO, YUU, and WIL. If you are looking for the VOCALOID characters then click here.

History[]

On June 8, 2023, three silhouettes were featured in an announcement for a June 16 stream featuring upcoming A.I.VOICE news.[1] On June 13, in celebration of ZOLA PROJECT's tenth anniversary, Yamaha announced that a VOCALOID6 update was expected to release on June 20. It was noted that in this update, KYO was rerecorded with the singing voice of Yuu Miyazaki (also known as "NANOX."). YUU (voiced by Minoru Takahashi, a.k.a Minorun) and WIL (voiced by M.Cayton, a.k.a. Maui) were reconstructed by using the VOCALOID3 voicebank data. All voicebanks were noted to be AI, allowing them to make use of the VOCALO CHANGER and Multilingual functions. The illustrator was confirmed to be Ryo Fujiwara.[2] ZOLA PROJECT was also confirmed to be receiving talk voice libraries for A.I.VOICE, revealing the previously teased silhouettes from June 8. The A.I.VOICE libraries opened up for preorder on June 14 and would be simultaneously released on the same day as the VOCALOID6 voicebanks. The A.I.VOICE libraries were also packaged with exVOICE files.[3] On June 16, ZOLA PROJECT was featured in A.I.VOICE's livestream. In the livestream, the characters were introduced and a segment was dedicated to demonstrating the talk libraries, with brief discussion about the VOCALOID6 release and a showcase of mock physical boxes. While there were no plans to release physical packages, an official printable DVD sleeve would be made available.[4]

ZOLA PROJECT V6 released on June 20. Despite that, Yamaha announced that they would still have the V3 version available for purchase, encouraging comparisons and using the voicebanks together.[5]

Package details as noted:

ZOLA PROJECT V6 consists of 3 male vocalists: YUU, KYO, and WIL. This package was modeled after the VOCALOID3 versions. While KYO's voicebank was rerecorded and captured the style of Yuu Miyazaki's singing style, YUU (voiced by Minoru Takahashi) and WIL (voiced by M.Cayton) used data from the original VOCALOID3 voicebanks, though all three were noted to be using VOCALOID:AI. As expected of VOCALOID6 AI voicebanks, they are more expressive.

Just like the VOCALOID3 version, the three vocals were developed to harmonize with each other and therefore act as a chorus when together. They fulfill a variety of purposes such as a trio of singers, a duet, a backing group to other VOCALOIDs, or simply normal solo singing roles.

Vocal traits as noted:

ZOLA PROJECT V6 adds eighteen style presets to the VOCALOID6 editor: ZOLA_KYO_Bright, ZOLA_KYO_Default, ZOLA_KYO_Lo-Fi, ZOLA_KYO_Mellow, ZOLA_KYO_Robotic, ZOLA_KYO_Rock, ZOLA_WIL_Bright, ZOLA_WIL_Default, ZOLA_WIL_Lo-Fi, ZOLA_WIL_Mellow, ZOLA_WIL_Robotic, ZOLA_WIL_Rock, ZOLA_YUU_Bright, ZOLA_YUU_Default, ZOLA_YUU_Lo-Fi, ZOLA_YUU_Mellow, ZOLA_YUU_Robotic, and ZOLA_YUU_Rock.

Phonetic notes as noted:

Using the "Multilingual" function, users can change the lyrics so YUU, KYO, and WIL can not only sing in Japanese but also in English and Mandarin Chinese.

Product Information
Optimum
  Genre: Pop, Dance, Jazz
Package details as noted:

YUU is a soft and ephemeral Japanese masculine AI voicebank that was trained using data from the original VOCALOID3 version. He sounds more realistic and human-like similar to AI vocals, but retains aspects of the original V3 voicebank.

Phonetic notes as noted:
  • YUU is an AI voicebank that uses data from the VOCALOID3 version, which originally used sample-based recordings rather than rerecorded and fresh song-based recordings. Thus, there may be similarities between the VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID6 versions. This may possibly include but are not limited to style, quality, issues, and limitations.
Software issues as noted:
  • As the VOCALOID6 version of YUU used data from the VOCALOID3 voicebank that was released ten years prior, the new version may not accurately reflect his voice provider, Minoru Takahashi's, current singing style.
